A Reflection of Peace and Justice Coursework - 550 Words

A Reflection of Peace and Justice (Coursework Sample) Content: A reflection of peace and justiceName:Institution:Date:This is an article about justice bestowed on Nicholas Slatten, a Blackwater security guard who was sentenced to life in prison. I found the article to contain valuable lessons to learn. The title was à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹Å"Blackwater Operatives Get Long Prison Termsfor 2007 Nisoor Massacreà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬. As I was reading the topic of the article I was expecting to find real justice equivalent to the massacre Nicholas committed. He was accused of attacking Iraqi civilians in an incident which left 14 dead and other 17 casualties wounded. Nicholas was not alone to be blamed in this act named à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹Å"Baghdadà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬s bloody Sundayà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬; he was in company of his other three compatriots, Evan Liberty, Dustin Heard and Paul Slough. Who were each charged with manslaughter and forceful use of fire arms to commit a felony. The legal battle was led by U.S district Judge Royce Lamberth. I think for the first time the U.S government prosecuted these security contractors who are its citizen for firearm violation which shows the government efforts to emphasize on justice. Some security details have the incompetent tendency to misuse their ammunition and then support their allegations for self defense. This was a very valuable lesson to other s who would fall for the same thing. It clearly showed the kind of punishment they would get. Reading this article opened up my mind to imagine what else injustices went unnoticed in these regionsThe article captured my attention when I learnt of the injustice these civilians were done. At some time I thought that the U.S troops were the best when dealing with civilians. But after reading this article I changed my mind on how I perceived them. Another thing I changed my mind about is on the Iraq citizens. It is true that not all are terrorists as known to many. The massacred group...
